Bumps in the road and then some

When I decided to chase this dream, I knew it would be difficult. The proverbial ‘bumps in the road’ were to be expected. What I wasn’t quite prepared for is just how bumpy that road has been. Like, I haven’t had a solid ‘win’ yet… not one. Family and friends think I’m crazy. Banks have laughed in my face. All I know to do is to keep pushing forward and play the odds, as it were. Surely I will catch a break at some point. If not, I guess I will just build the damn boat anyways.

Logos

I did these logos myself… I think simple is the way to go here. Subject to revision. The first one will go on the side of the boat, minus the “BOATS” word.

Self-design

I had been screwing around on the computer for years, “designing” my own boat that I would build one day. I know my way around a 3d CAD program pretty decent, and I was able to put together quite a few iterations of boats that I thought looked pretty darn good.

But when it came time to really think about building out the boat… I realized that what I had been doing the whole time is just drawing in 3D. No engineering was involved, just drawing what I thought a boat should look like. Well, there’s much more to a boat than that.. I have been on some really pretty boats myself that rode like complete shit, or got you soaking wet on days when it shouldn’t. With technology these days, a real boat designer can go as far as to sea trial a hull in various conditions and know the weight of the boat, expected speed, fuel economy etc… So the point is I decided I’m going with a professional.
